Challengers
The mission of the Challenger League is to bring
the Pop Warner Little Scholars experience to
boys and girls with special needs that would not
otherwise be given that chance.
Challenger Flag Football is
non-competitive and no score is kept. Each
participant is required to provide a “Buddy” at
least 14 years old to assist the player on the
field. Participation in the Challenger League is
only at the request of the individual’s parent
or guardian. There are no practices for football
and all games will be held on Saturday mornings
in the LCP area. Every child will get the thrill
of scoring a touchdown every game!
The Challenger Cheer program
is to provide boys and girls with special needs
an opportunity to learn cheer skills in a safe
and fun environment. Cheer squads will practice
in August to prepare for the upcoming season and
will participate in the other cheer exhibitions.

On Being a Champion
A champion is a winner,
A hero...
Someone who never gives up,
Even when the going gets rough.
A champion is a member of a winning team.
Someone who overcomes challenges,
Even when it requires creative solutions.
A champion is an optimist.
A hopeful spirit...
Someone who plays the game,
Even when the game is called life...
Especially when the game is called life.
There can be a champion is all of us...
If we live as a winner,
If we live as a member of a winning team,
If we live with a hopeful spirit,
For life.

Champions play Under the Lights!

LCPYFL Champions Rock
On the first game of the season, on a beautiful new turf at Vista Ridge High School in Cedar Park, history was made in a very special and amazing way! Sixteen wonderful kids and their parents, grandparents, siblings, Buddies, and friends came together for the first (in the great state of Texas) Challenger Football game!
Coach Allen and Coach Chuck organized the boys on the field into the red and blue teams as Coach Rachel and Coach Donna got the girls, with their pompoms and their spirited cheers going on the sideline! Each boy on the field scored at least one touchdown and it became apparent that we may have a new Emmitt Smith and a new Peyton Manning, and some great blocking for our runners!
The girls were loud and proud and along with their cheering on the sidelines, made spirit lines for the boys to run through at halftime and at the end of the game!!
For those of us that were honored to be there with these kids and their families, it will forever bless our lives and hearts!!! And if you would like to experience this wonderful event- be at Bible Stadium or Vista Ridge HS Saturday morning at 9:00am and you too will be blessed!
I would like to say a special Thank you to Patrick Harris and all the LCP Board Members who helped and supported this idea and made dreams come true!!! God Bless and Thank you- Cheryl Young
